Harmon Wages, Professional Football player
Wages was a standout Quarterback for Robert E. Lee Senior High School in the early 1960s. In two seasons playing for the Generals he led them to a 15-5 record tallying close to 900 yards rushing his senior year. Wages earned All-City, All-State and All-American honors his senior year for his efforts. After high school he attended the University of Florida on scholarship. While with the Gators he was Steve Spurrier's back-up in 1965 and 1966. In 1967 shared time at quarterback. He finished his collegiate career in 1967 having played in 30 games throwing 56 completions on 119 attempts, 710 yards, 3 touchdowns and 6 interceptions. Wages also had 80 rushing attempts for 244 yards and 2 rushing touchdowns. After college Wages went undrafted and was signed by the Atlanta Falcons as a free agent. Wages played for the Falcons from 1968 to 1971 and again in 1973. While in the NFL Wages began seeing time at running back where he found more success carrying the ball 332 times for 1321 yards and 5 touchdowns. He also found some success catching the ball compiling 85 for 765 yards and 5 touchdowns. Wages still holds the Falcons record for longest touchdown run with a 66-yard trot on December 7, 1969 against the New Orleans Saints. In that game Wages ran a 66-yard touchdown, caught an 88-yard touchdown, and threw for a 16-yard touchdown.
Wallace was a three sport athlete at Robert E. Lee High School in football, basketball and baseball. Wallace lined up mostly at tight end for the Generals earning 2nd Team All-City from the Florida Times Union, a selection to the Shrine Bowl, and selection to play in the Florida-Georgia Border War in 2008. Wallace was also awarded player of the week by the Jacksonville Quarterback Club for his 6 reception, 88 yard and 2 touchdown performance against state powerhouse Raines. Wallace chose to join the Florida State Seminoles in 2009 as a preferred walk-on turning down several smaller division school scholarship offers. After joining the Seminoles football team Wallace earned Scout Team player of the year honors in 2010. Wallace started seeing playing time in 2011 as a reserve offensive tackle, eventually earning a starting spot on the placekicking unit in 2012. In 2013 FSU Head Coach Jimbo Fisher awarded Wallace with a scholarship, where Wallace saw significant playing time as a reserve offensive tackle and starter on the place-kicking unit. Wallace completed his collegiate football career in 2013 as a part of the 2013 BCS National Championship football team.
