Ron Meeks, Professional Football player
Meeks was an accomplished defensive back for the Generals in the early 1970s. After graduation he attended Arkansas State University playing for the Red Wolves from 1972 to 1976. After college Meeks went on to play for several (CFL) Canadian Football League teams including the Hamilton Tiger-Cats (1977-79), Ottawa Rough Riders (1979), and the Toronto Argonauts (1980-81). Meeks began his coaching career in 1984 at his alma mater Arkansas State. He has continued coaching since moving through the college ranks and into the NFL. Meeks has served in some coaching capacity at the University of Miami (Fl), New Mexico State, Fresno State, Dallas Cowboys, Cincinnati Bengals, Atlanta Falcons, Washington Redskins, St. Louis Rams, Indianapolis Colts, Baltimore Ravens and the San Diego Chargers. Meeks has tutored and developed the likes of Pro-Bowlers Ashley Ambrose, Ray Buchanan, Eugene Robinson, Champ Bailey, Aeneas Williams, Bob Sanders and Antoine Bethea. Meeks also was the defensive coordinator for the Super Bowl XLI Champions, the Indianapolis Colts.

Stephen Nicholas, Professional Football Player
Nicholas was a force on the Robert E. Lee High School football team in the early 2000s. Nicholas played linebacker for the Generals, earning Class 3A All-State honors his senior season. His outstanding play also earned him an invitation to play in the Shrine Bowl. After high school Nicholas played football for the University of South Florida earning an All-Big East First Team selection his senior year. He finished his collegiate career with 326 tackles, 20 sacks, and a school record 53.5 tackles for a loss. Nicholas was drafted by the Atlanta Falcons with the 109th pick (4th round) of the 2007 NFL Draft where he spent seven seasons. Nicholas started 50 games of 101 he's played with the Falcons while compiling 378 combined tackles, 8 sacks and 2 interceptions.
